Get ready for a laugh this September, while doing some good! Comedian Paul Mayhew-Archer, co-writer of the Vicar of Dibley is heading to Thornden Hall in Chandlers Ford for an unmissable charity comedy night!
The event is in aid of Parkinson’s UK Winchester and all proceeds will directly support people in Winchester and the surrounding areas who are living with Parkinson’s.
Paul Mayhew-Archer is a multi-award-winning comedy writer whose CV boasts an array of classics including ‘The Vicar of Dibley’, “Mrs Brown’s Boys” and the screen version of “Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot” starring Judi Dench and Dustin Hoffman. He also produced much loved Radio 4 shows ‘I’m Sorry I haven’t A Clue’ and ‘Old Harry’s Game’, and as a script editor he’s worked on everything from ‘Spitting Image’ to ‘Miranda’.
Paul was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2011, but he’s not let that slow him down, quite the opposite! Since 2018 he’s been on tour with his inspiring comedy show ‘Incurable Optimist’ about the therapeutic power of comedy and laughter. Tickets from his shows provide vital support for people living with Parkinson’s, the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.
His show has been reviewed by a range of celebrity greats, Richard Curtis called it “Very funny, and moving too”, while Ian Hislop found it “Brave…and funny”.
