Discover the plight of the harvest mouse, the noctule bat, follow the mesmerising journey of swifts and swallows, and then head out into the starry night to be enchanted by a mystical world of captivating light installations in a unique light trail.
This is a Light Festival with a difference, using renewable energy sources, solar power and low-level lighting with environmental consciousness at its core, remembering Gilbert White and his internationally important legacy to ecology. Fun for all the family, this is a chance to make new memories and discover how you can make changes to help wildlife and the environment around you.
£41,455.48 of funding by East Hampshire District Council’s Rural Grant Scheme is supporting this ambitious new model of light show.
Thanks to a grant awarded by Arts Council England the museum has been able to work artists and writers to make this a truly unique experience. The museum is joined by local author Tiffany Francis-Baker, an award-winning author and illustrator from the South Downs in Hampshire. Will Lindley a visual artist based in London, whose work spans works on paper, objects, moving image and installation and is presented in various settings including galleries, concert halls, theatres, museums and historic buildings. Louise Arthur a basket maker and teacher based in Hampshire, who combines contemporary design and heritage skills with her passion for the environment. And Jacqueline Rolls a sculptor and mixed media artist based in Hampshire.
Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 4:30pm – 8pm from Thursday 21st November 2024 – Saturday 21st December 2024.
