The UK’s biggest business pitching competition headed by world-famous entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson, will come to Winchester next month – and Winchester City Council will help businesses perfect their presentations
Virgin Media Business will bring the Voom Bus and Voom Pitch to the city.
Business can pitch their ideas to a panel of experts on board the Voom Bus and be in with a chance of winning £5,000 as a regional prize and a chance to meet and receive advice from Sir Richard Branson at a brunch hosted by him.
Winchester has been chosen as a location where the brightest and best ideas will come from, and the Voom Bus will stop off on October 19 as part of the company’s Voom UK tour.
To help budding businesses and enterprising entrepreneurs in advance of the visit Winchester City Council has organised a special pitching workshop on October 7.
This will be run by Enterprise First and delivered by local businessman and entrepreneur Stephen Northam, who will help businesses refine their pitches to give them the best possible chance of success at the Virgin event.
Cllr Robert Humby, Winchester City Council’s Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Business Partnerships, said:
“Winchester City Council aims to make the District a premier business destination. By working with Virgin Media and offering local businesses the opportunities to pitch and receive free advice we are encouraging entrepreneurship and an environment for business to develop and thrive.”
Peter Kelly, Managing Director, Virgin Media Business, said: “This workshop is a great initiative by Winchester City Council to support local entrepreneurs in advance of entering Voom Pitch. We look forward to coming to Winchester and I encourage those just starting out with a great business idea to join the workshop and enter the competition.”
