Winchester City Council, along with headline sponsors Hargroves Cycles and sprint sponsors City Bridge Dental Care, are pleased to announce that a total cash prize fund of almost £3,000 will be available to those lining up for the senior races at the Winchester Criterium & CycleFest 2016.
This year’s event takes place on Sunday 5 June.
Amanda Ford, Head of Sport & Physical Activity at Winchester City Council, said: “First across the line in each of the two headline races – the men’s race and the women’s race – will win a £400 cash prize with cash on offer right down to tenth place.”
Winners of the Regional Championship Events (the main men’s and women’s races and the U16 races) will also receive commemorative shirts and winners’ medals, while those joining them on the podium will receive silver and bronze medals.
A range of vouchers, medals, and goodie bags will be available to those who make the younger age group podiums.
City Bridge Dental, which is based in Bridge Street, has teamed up with the organisers to offer a range of cash prizes and goodies for Prime Sprints in the U16 and senior races.
In each race, a bell will sound approximately halfway through, and the next person past the start/finish line takes the prize.
Mark Aston from City Bridge Dental said: “We’re excited to be involved with the Winchester Criterium & CycleFest again in 2016. Cycling is a very social way to keep fit and Winchester Criterium inspires all ages to get on their bikes.”
