Mike Golding from Southampton set a new record as he finished the Vendée Globe 2012/2013 race in 6th place.
As he came over the finish line in France he became the first person in the 24 year history of the gruelling solo round-the-world race to finish 3 times.
The skipper of Gamesa crossed the finish on 6th February having been at sea for 88 days 6h 36m 26s, racing over 27,281 miles. It was a personal best time for him, having shaved eight hours off his own record.
He has attempted the race four times and finished 7th in 2001, 3rd in 2004, and 6th in 2013
